I can't believe I got through Inktober! I've learnt many new things, and I'm definitely in the process of evolving new skills, and I can't wait to explore them even more. It has been a really great experience and I'm already getting ready for next year.

ReplyDeleteTruly impressed by the shadow and light work implied in 23.
Love the artistic line work and the glow and overall concept in 26 (and the lovely techniques and textures!)
I adore 27 because you really caught a lovely perspective and atmosphere in that one. It's kind of postcard-like, and something you'd imagine in a storybook :) (just need a cute winnie the pooh kind of character walking along with a scarf around his neck!)
I like 28, because it's very different, a very strange perspective. Is it completely from imagination? really awesome. Love the sparkle symbols!
I'd like to give a mention for day 30 as well! You are definitely challenging the shadows in your work, training your eyes to see them and apply them! It's really awesome! Maybe a little more highlight in those windows would of brought the mood to the page somewhat better ♥
I would love to see you do a "looking through a indow at Christmas Eve style" one during christmas ;) with colour of course! cant do Christmas without colour!!!
Also is that white ink? or your gouache?
You're so sweet you take your time and write these comments. Thank you for that! ♥
DeleteIt was really fun to experiment with the shadows and light in day 23 (the one with the diner) and I'm still not sure if shadows actually behave that way.
I'm actually quite happy with the outcome of day 27 (the winter landscape). I wanted it to snow after painting it, haha. Day 28 (the one from inside a mine looking out on a house) was inspired by Snow White and the seven dwarfs. The prompt was gem stone, and I thought of the mine the dwarfs work in. I looked at different artworks from Snow White and came up with the idea of being inside the mine, but I also really wanted to do another snow landscape so I had to merge the two somehow.
Urgh day 30 (the building with wisteria growing on it) I'm really not happy with that one. I just wanted to finish it so I didn't have to work on it any longer. That's what sometimes happens when doing something like Inktober.
Uuuh yes! I'm definitely going to do some Christmas, snowy and cosy pieces soon!
Some of it is white gouache and some of it is white liquid water colour. The water colour is opaque. I have both on a pallet that I reactivate and I'm not sure which white blob is what haha ♥
I do love reading your blog. It allows me, as a reader and art enthusiast to hear your thoughts and see you develop and see your work evolve. It's fun to read these kinds of blogs! And someone has to give your blog some love- that person is going to be me for now XD
DeleteI'd really love to start doing some WIPs on my blog but I'm currently out of action as I look for buying my first Artist Quality paper lol --- if you want you should go chime in on my blog and give me your opinion on some papers if you like (or you can just reply here :3)
Regardless of whether shadows act like that -it represents a mood that you caught! it's great!
Agree about Day 27
and 28, now i see the Snow White representation!! tha's great!
Day 30 - upon first look, it does come across less than your best - but the more I've looked at it, the more I liked it and it's concept! I think it's one that would be good reworked into colour! with a night glow!
HAHAHA that's funny... May or May not contain gouache or white ink XD
